Term 1

What Have We Been Learning?

Today (12/10/17) we enjoyed apple pressing.  Please see latest news for more information and photographs.

Unfortunately today (05/10/17), we were not able to access our Forest School site on Thursday and Friday due to work being carried out and alternative arrangement was made. Reception and KS1 stayed on site and were able to plant our pots and tyres, lift the onions we planted in the spring, remove the runner bean plants and tomato plants. Bus contributions will be credited during term 2.

Today (28/09/17) we returned to our Forest School site.  It was lovely to see the children exploring the site, making their own decisions and taking risks (a risk can be anything which pushes an individual out of their comfort zone and try new things.  A risk could be standing in a puddle, getting muddy, going on a swing, using the sea-saw, walking along a beam).  We also sat for a short time listening to the different sounds in the woods.  The children were able to pick out lots today; birds, red kite, helicopter, cars, tractor, motorcycles in the distance.  Well done to Reception for managing so well with the walk to and from the site!

Today (21/9/17) we had our first trip to our Forest School site. We were all very excited and a little nervous; for some of us it has been a long time since we have been to the site and for others it was a very new experience.  The older children were able to help the new children with keeping safe and taking manageable risks. Have a look at our photographs below.
Today (14/09/17) at Forest School we were looking for signs of Autumn.  It was quite tricky and we had to look carefully for leaves of different shades/colours of autumn, seeds, fir cones, a shiny conker, pine needles, tough evergreen leaves and lots more.  Our collections are on the Forest School table - please call in and have a look after school one day.
Today (Thursday 7/9/17) was our first Forest School.  This afternoon we have been thinking about changes and in particular the seasons Summer and Autumn.  The children were then able to explore the outdoor area to make and decorated crowns.  Have a look at our pictures below.
