Term 1

What Have We Been Learning?

Today 13/10/17 KS2 enjoyed making apple juice.  We collected apples from our apple tree and asked for donations from our parents and local community.  Please see latest news for more information and photographs.

Unfortunately today (06/10/17) we were not able to access our Forest School site on Friday due to work being carried out and alternative arrangement was made.  Instead we took part in planned walk at the top of Wittenham Clumps. The children challenged themselves climbing on a fallen tree, learning new stopping points and working together to overcome the climb of a steep hill.  We certainly needed our drink and snack at the top!

Today (29/09/17) we worked in two groups at our Forest School site.  We will swap group next week so all children are able to participate in both activities). Group 1 worked with Miss Haines and had a very important job of identifying trees/leaves.  Using charts and books they were able to name many of the species we found.  Group 2 worked with Mrs Field to make tree cookies (we will decorate these later in the term), needing to carefully measure how much string/wool we needed and learning to tie an overhand (stopper) knot. The following website is great for showing an animation of knots if you wish to practise:

Today (22/9/17) we took our first trip to our Forest School at Pine Woods.  For some children it has been a long time since we have been at the site and for others it was a very new experience. We spent time exploring our site and of course enjoying our customary snack!
Today (15/09/17) was our first Forest School session.  Looking for signs of Autumn we ventured to the old airfield.  Well done to Year 3 and our new children who have settled well into our Friday Forest School routine.
