Curriculum

Curriculum Intent, Implementation and Impact Statement

Intent

At the heart of our curriculum lie the values of Curiosity, Compassion, and Courage. We believe that every child is entitled to an ambitious, rich and engaging education that nurtures their natural wonder, empowers them to care for others, and equips them to face challenges with resilience and confidence. Our mixed-age classes provide a unique opportunity to develop a learning culture rooted in collaboration, leadership, and respect across ages and stages. We aim to develop inquisitive learners who ask meaningful questions, empathetic citizens who contribute positively to their community, and brave thinkers who are ready to take risks and adapt in an ever-changing world.

Implementation

Our curriculum is coherently planned and carefully sequenced across subjects and year groups to ensure progression and depth, while remaining responsive to the dynamics of mixed-age teaching. We deliver learning through integrated themes and high-quality texts that spark curiosity and connect knowledge across disciplines. Through inclusive and adaptive teaching, children learn to think critically, work cooperatively, and challenge their own thinking.

We embed Compassion by explicitly teaching emotional literacy, celebrating diversity, and offering real opportunities to act with kindness—locally and globally. Our classrooms foster Courage by promoting growth mindset, encouraging Curiosity through risk-taking in a safe environment, and providing space for reflective, independent learning. Technology is used purposefully to enhance understanding, creativity and digital citizenship, preparing pupils for life beyond the classroom.

Impact

Our curriculum enables children to leave us as confident, capable learners with a strong sense of self and others. They demonstrate curiosity by engaging thoughtfully with new ideas, compassion in their interactions and global awareness, and courage in facing academic and personal challenges. Assessment is used not just to track progress but to inform next steps and celebrate personal growth. Pupil voice, parent partnerships, and community engagement play a vital role in shaping the curriculum and ensuring it remains relevant, inclusive, and inspiring.

By the time they move on, our pupils are not only ready for the next stage of their education but also for life as courageous, compassionate, and curious individuals in a diverse and ever-evolving world.
